WELCOME!!!

I used to think that I was a neat freak until I had 5 children! Then it was neat freak no more! For years I have looked at my cluttered home...

Daily Project 11-27-22: Removing Sunday School Projects off the Refrigerator

We usually put our youngest's, Nia's, Sunday School projects on the refrigerator to display for a week. However, there were weeks of projects on the refrigerator door and every time we'd open up the refrigerator one of the projects would fall to the floor.  We finally took pictures of some projects and threw them away.

The Week's Project 6-1 to 6-6 - Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer Clothes Changeover

This week, my eldest daughter and I worked on changing over all the girls' Fall/Winter clothes to Spring/Summer clothes. This is the first time I've asked for help and as they say, "Many hands make light work." We got done with the project on Saturday.

Another project I do during the clothes changeover is a photo session of my youngest in the clothes we're putting away. Many of the clothes have been passed down from the oldest to the youngest and I want to remember those outfits.

Why No Cleaned Kitchen Before Bed on 6-5, 6-6, & 6-7?

Fridays are usually our Small Group Bible study nights. We have our Zoom meetings in our open living space and the girls cleaning up after dinner was too noisy. We asked them to leave the room so that we could have our meeting.

On Saturday, I weeded the garden up until dinner. I had a bad headache afterwards so I lied down to help the headache. The girls tried to clean up as best they could, but I don't think the floor was swept.

On Sunday, we were invited over to some dear friends' house for dinner. We had a lot of dishes in the sink because one of the girls made pretzels. There were also dishes from other home projects like soap and bath bomb making.

Daily Project 5-31-20 - Weeded Garden & Planted Starters

Sundays are usually more restful than the other days of the week. However, today, was busier than normal because after online church, I did some catch up schoolwork with the girls and then I weeded our garden and planted our starters.

(While we were in Florida, it stormed hard and only a few seeds we planted sprouted. I needed to plant new seeds inside. They sprouted well in the portable/mini greenhouse!)

Daily Project 5-30-20 - Target Run

I used to make weekly Target runs and sometimes they were biweekly runs (or more). I discovered that I spent so much money when I went to Target that I needed to limit my time there. As a result, I have cut my visit to Target to once a month. I don't need much from there, but I do get my husband's breakfast cereal and snacks there and some housecleaning products. Even though my final bill is big because I buy a month's supply's worth, at the end of the month, the once a month trip saves us a bunch!

My girls also needed sandals for the summer, so we also went sandal shopping.

The Target run took all day and by the time I got home, I didn't have any energy left to do any home organizational work.

Why No Cleaned Kitchen Before Bed on 5-28 and 5-29?

My husband and I usually go out on a dinner date on Thursdays. We went to Smashburger on Thursday and left the girls to fend for their own dinner. I didn't leave them with instructions to clean up so they didn't.

My husband and I facilitate a Small Group Bible study on Friday evenings. We didn't have time to cook dinner so I asked DearHubby to bring home take out. There really wasn't much kitchen clean up to do because of that. We had a small Small Group, but it was still very encouraging!

Why No Daily Projects for 5-28 & 29?

During the quarantine, my girls and I have filmed a series called "The Quarantine". Since we filmed a show on Wednesday, that left me with Thursday to double up on school work and homeschool life was my main focus. On Friday morning, I spent some time making the final edits to our show, which left me with only a few hours to finish up the week's school work with the girls and no time for any home organizational projects.

My time with "The Quarantine" is done. Last week's show was the last show I would be involved with because it was taking up too much time to film and edit. We made the first show as a challenge from the girls' youth group leader. When we sent the link to my family, they raved about it so much and asked for more. We didn't intend to make any more, but since there were requests, especially from my grandma, we delivered more shows. I don't think anyone watched the other shows so I decided that, for me, I could move on to use my time in other ways. My older girls still want to produce more shows. Will they actually do more? I'll wait and see.

Daily Project 5-27-20 - Unpacked Miscellaneous Bags from Trip & Cleaned Refrigerator

During this quarantine, Wednesdays have become our family's day to shoot a weekly show called "The Quarantine." Today we shot our 6th Episode and my eldest will be editing it tomorrow. That means we skipped a lot of our school work and we'll need to pack in a lot of learning within the next few days.

We had some miscellaneous items from our trip still lying around in bags. I put those away today.

In addition, a spill is always a good excuse to clean an area. Today, it was to clean up a soy sauce spill in the refrigerator. I didn't deep clean the fridge, but I cleaned the door shelves and any exposed areas on the inside.

Daily Project 5-26-20 - Make Room on Phone & Put Away Toiletries From Trip

As a full time homeschooling mom, not just Pandemic Crisis homeschooling, but true, full time homeschooling mom, I have to pick and choose which projects to do each day. Homeschooling is definitely a full time job that can take up most of the day and home management sometimes goes by the wayside. I am realizing that doing a little here and a little there at least helps me move forward towards a beautiful home even if it's a baby step at a time (or crawl).

My phone ran out of memory from all the pictures I took on the trip. I needed to spend some time cleaning up my phone.

I also needed to put away the toiletries that we brought on the trip. Even unpacking can be such a process in our busy home, so I have to set aside time for it.

The handle on our toiletries bag broke and I tried to repair it. Unfortunately the repair didn't work and I was forced to throw it out. This bag has been our toiletries bag for over 10 years. It has given us many years of service. Time to get a new one.

Everyday Chore - Bed Made and All Trash Out Before Noon

Making the bed and taking out the trash before noon is another habit that I try to practice daily. However, sometimes I don't and then the bad habit creeps in and it becomes easier and easier to skip the chore. Keeping track of the completed task will help keep me accountable.

Everyday Chore - Cleaned Kitchen Before Bed

I struggle with cleaning the kitchen after dinner. I've always made it my goal to go to bed with a cleaned kitchen so that it's ready for me to start my day the next day. However, many times I am so tired that I do skip the chore and leave it for the morning. I'm hoping that I'll be motivated to clean the kitchen if I record this done chore daily.

Daily Project 5-25-20 - Garden 2020

Today my project was outside. I planted a garden on Mother's Day and had hoped that while we were away the seeds would sprout. All of the mammoth Sunflowers I planted sprouted and some Balsam flowers sprouted, but none of the Zucchini and only a few Green Beans sprouted. Today's project was to hoe the whole garden to keep the weeds at bay and to prepare it for a second round of planting. This time, I used a starter kit to start the seedlings inside.

Daily Project 5-24-20 - Cleaned Washer & Dryer Area

Last week my family and I were in Florida and I had the opportunity to watch HGTV during our down time. The home improvement shows motivated me to get moving on a "house beautifying" project which includes daily cleaning and decluttering. The plan is to choose a small area to clean and declutter everyday and move through the house until I'm done and then start all over again. The first area I chose was our laundry area. I forgot a before picture, but before I cleaned and organized the area, the washer and dryer were really dirty with dust, clutter on top of the dryer, cobwebs and dust on the walls and behind the machines, and mold around the windows.
